FAQs

Does waxing hurt?

As waxing involves the hair being pulled from the root, it's going to hurt more than shaving.
It depends on what area you will get a wax done, some areas might be more sensitive than others and everyone's pain threshold is different, so what might be too much for some is barely painful for others.
Plus, the first time is more painful, so if you get waxed every 4 - 5 weeks when the hair is waxable again, the pain lessens.

Don't worry we are professionals and to ensure our treatments are as comfortable and efficient as can be we use high-quality waxes, before/after products that ensure the process of waxing is less painful, experience therapist Anca is high - skilled and has years-developed techniques that minimise the pain.

All of these factors combined give an experience that is usually far more comfortable than people expect it to be.

What is the difference between hot and strip wax?

Hot wax is for dealing with sensitive skin and thicker hair and will most likely be used for intimate areas, underarms, and face, whilst strip wax is for less sensitive skin and thinner hair and most likely be used for areas such as the legs and arms.

Hot wax is applied with a wooden disposable spatula and once the wax has set it's removed by pulling the wax off by hand. It's then thrown in the bin.

Strip wax also known as cream wax, soft wax or warm wax can be applied with either a disposable spatula or roller, hair is then immediately removed by rubbing a disposable strip against it and quickly peeling it off.

We will use one or a combination of the two waxes, depending on the treatment.

Will my hair grow back thinner?

As the hair is pulled from the roots, this reduces hair growth.
It varies from person to person, but usually, the hair grows back less and thinner.

How long should the hair be for my first wax?

The hair needs to be a minimum of 0.5 cm regrowth to get the best results.

We recommend a minimum of 3 weeks from shaving and 4 weeks from your last wax.

How I should prepare for my waxing appointment?

Please arrive clean and refreshed.
We recommend you exfoliate your skin 24 hrs before your appointment, this will remove the dead skin cells and make it easier for the hair to be removed, stimulate circulation can minimise the risk of pimples and ingrown hairs.

For better results try to exfoliate 2-3 times a week and moisturise daily.

Can I shave between waxing treatments?

We don't advise you shaving between waxing appointments, shaving will throw off your waxing routine.
Hair grows in different cycles. It takes at least a few wax appointments before it grows in the same cycle.

After waxing the hair not only is regrowth softer but it's thinner too. Thinner hair means less pain, the next time you wax. So if you do shave, your next wax will hurt more.

Is there a way to make waxing less painful?

You can take some ibuprofen half an hour before your appointment, this will help with the pain.

If you're currently taking antibiotics you may want to wait a few days as antibiotics can make the skin more sensitive, and like we mentioned before exfoliate 24 hours before your appointment that prepares the skin for waxing.

Can I get an intimate wax if I'm pregnant?

Yes, you can. It's completely safe to get waxed when pregnant, the only difference is you may be slightly more sensitive due to pregnancy hormones.

Please keep in mind that is more safe to get intimate waxing between 12 weeks and up to 38 weeks of pregnancy.

Will I need to remove my underwear?

If you are having a Brazilian/ Hollywood wax then yes you will need to remove your underwear, for other types of waxing treatments like bikini wax, extended bikini, legs etc. you don't need to.

Please note that we don't provide disposable underwear.

Can I still have an intimate wax if I'm on my period?

You don't need to worry, as long as you're clean and fresh and are wearing a tampon or a menstrual cup then won't be a problem at all.

Should I do anything at home in between my wax appointment?

We are on this waxing journey together, as a team. We do our best to ensure you have the best treatment but you need to do your part at home too, by exfoliating as much as you can and moisturise.
